CYRIL MEIDINGER

With a career that began with a Masters in Marketing from the Toulouse Business School, and has since progressed to his training at WSET Level 4, it turns out Cyril Meidinger’s accidental visit to South Africa may have been a blessing in disguise! But what else should you know about our head sommelier?

HE KNOWS HIS STUFF
He’s represented South Africa twice at the Blind Tasting World Championships in France, first in 2018 and then again in 2019.

HE’S ABOUT MORE THAN JUST WINE
As he learned working at a tasting room on the Greek island of Kefalonia, it’s all about good food, good wine, good company, and sharing a common way of life.

HE’S HAD SOME MEMORABLE WINE MOMENTS
Tasting a 50-year-old Douro wine straight out of the barrel with the winemaker’s family tops the list.

HE’S MADE HIS OWN WINE
His first-ever cuvée, a Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignon 2018, to be precise.

HE’S PRETTY HANDY ON THE FIELD
He’s represented the Greek national team in rugby – which has absolutely nothing to do with wine, but is still pretty impressive all the same!
