Delaille Raubenheimer
A born & bred South African cork-dork that started her studies in BSc Viticulture & Oenology at the age of 17. Delaille actually missed her graduation ceremony as she was already on a plane to go work a harvest in Argentina. Which followed by harvest gigs in Marlborough, New Zealand; Napa, US and Douro, Portugal. Keen to diversify her skills she also studied through the Wine and Spirits Education Trust and got her Level 3.
CRAZIEST WINE TASTING EXPERIENCE
A herd of elephants interrupted a wine tasting she was hosting. “You won’t believe how quietly the ellies approached us – they got REALLY close, luckily we had the chance to slowly retreat back to our safari vehicle, where we waited for the herd to pass before continuing with the tasting.”
“BOTTLE SHOCK – THE MOVIE” IN REAL LIFE
Working with the legendary Bo Barrett from Chateau Montelena was a “pinch me” experience.
ISLAND LIFE
Delaille was living and working as sommelier in Maldives before lock-down – where every weekend was spent diving!
WINE TAKES YOU PLACES
It has been her biggest dream to go to Israel – and got an opportunity to represent a winery at a press release in Tel Aviv, Israel last year.
